First Documented Case of a Medium Contacting a Comatose Patient The case of Dustin

She bluntly asked me a question that would profoundly change my life: “Have you ever connected with someone who is in a comatose state due to trauma, injury or surgery?” “No! No I have never done it before!” I am a psychic medium. But until then, I had been doing readings for people who wanted to connect with their deceased loved ones. This was a first.
Isabelle Chauffeton Saavedra was contacted to do a reading she had never done before. Until then, she had been answering calls for people who were longing to connect with a deceased loved one. Because of her constant quest for understanding how consciousness could survive bodily death, or could exist without the need of brain activity, Isabelle understood this call was going to be an important landmark in her experimentalism mediumship. With the permission of Dustin's wife Aimee, Isabelle detailed the "encounter" she had with Dustin while seating at her desk thousands of miles away from this loving father of six children, laying comatose, on his hospital bed, after an operation to try and remove his aggressive glioblastoma was performed. Unbeknownst to Isabelle, was the reason why he was in a coma, where he was on the surface of the Earth, and in fact, everything else about this man's life, she had never heard of a few days prior, when a FB friend had asked her that fateful question. She decided to apply the protocol she had always done with her other readings:
No contact with the sitter (in this case the Dustin's wife and Dustin himself) - As a matter of fact, the reading was requested by a friend of the family who had heard of her work and her protocol.
No set date or time when she would do the reading in order to set as close to a double blind situation as possible (double blind situation: Isabelle knew nothing about her client, and her client did not know when she would do the reading) to avoid cross pollution of the reading, or external influences on the mind-brain.
Reading done, by herself alone, at a distance, sitting at her desk, typing on her computer her visions and sensory perceptions, without any direct feedback from the sitter to avoid the possibility of "cold reading" (cold reading: getting cues and insights from the sitter's mannerism, answers during a reading).
When the reading was done she sent it to the family friend who relayed it to Dustin's wife Aimee, and Dustin's sister. Dustin's sister was at the hospital the night Isabelle actually did the reading. When the family friend started to describe Dustin's hospital room where she had never been, prompted to do so based on Isabelle's reading, the sister was dumbfounded (her actual words are quoted here): When I read the reading, I knew Valerie (Dustin’s sister) was at the hospital with him. I texted her and asked if she was awake, as I knew my next questions would be out of left field and she would think I was kinda crazy. She replied she was at the hospital. I texted back: “How is Dustin doing, assuming you are with him?” She replied yes, she was just leaving. I then said: “Totally random question but is there a window or light source to Dustin’s left?” She said yes… Then I said: “Are there two doors to his right?” She responded: “You are freaking me out!!” I told her to call me. She did.
Over the course of the reading, Dustin revealed that he wanted music, he was missing his music, which helped his family validate the fact that that was exactly what they had asked him that same day, not getting a direct answer, but getting an unexpected answer from thousands of miles away through Isabelle's reading!
Excerpt of the reading: " (Him talking) My bed is narrow and there is nothing in front of me, I am facing a wall. I am aware I am lying on this bed. I can see the bottom of the bed. I need music! I miss music! What bothers me is the silence! It’s silent; it’s too silent! [the family friend]: The music, he loves music. She (Dustin’s sister) had asked him the night you did the reading. It was another thing that shocked her. I told her to get him some music please. And her response was shear disbelief for a moment. She said: “How did you know?” I was like: “How did I know what?” She said, “that I asked him if he wanted music!!” [Dustin's sister] said she asked Dustin if he wanted some music. They are now playing music for him and/or leaving the TV on for him.
It is important to notice that thanks to this validation, both patient and family were able to validate their communication and improvement was made into the day to day care of the patient, because communication was established and validated.
Finally, it was very important for Dustin's wife to know that the connection they had before his illness was still present that he knew she was by his side. It happened through a powerful part of the reading that is shared with you here:
Excerpt of the reading: What’s happening on Tuesdays and Fridays? Tuesday and Friday, Tuesday and Friday he keeps repeating that. Dustin'wife's comment on the reading: I was leaving every Tuesday, and coming back Fridays. Crazy! (He was in a hospital away from home and she had to drive to go see him every week on Fridays and would stay until the next Tuesday)
The reading was quite long and was commented and validated by both Dustin's wife, his siter and the friend who had asked for it. It created an invisible communication bridge between a man in a coma, unable to express himself verbally or physically, and his family at a crucial time when both needed it the most. The hope is that this can be replicated with families in need in order to help bridging unaware and aware minds in the field of consciousness and advance the knowledge of consciousness experimentalism in the most loving way.
